Top 5 performers of Week 8

WR Van Jefferson, Ravenwood

Jefferson was on the receiving end of nearly three-quarters of quarterback Cole Brown’s 360 yards passing on Friday. The 6-2, 172-pound Georgia commit set season highs in both catches (nine) and yards receiving (265) in Friday’s 36-29 triumph over Franklin, including a 90-yard, first-quarter touchdown reception.

RB Lennox McAfee, East Nashville

The Eagle defense surrendered its first touchdown of the season Friday – actually, its first five – but the offense picked up the slack in the thrilling 38-36 victory over Pearl-Cohn. McAfee, who carried 27 times for 129 yards, found the end zone three times, including the eventual game-winning score with just seven seconds left in the game.

RB/S Jack Shoulders, Father Ryan

Shoulders did a little bit of everything in Father Ryan’s 34-24 win over Division II-AA rival Pope John Paul II. Defensively, the 6-foot, 185-pounder hauled in a pair of interceptions – returning one 74 yards for a score – and he also found the end zone a couple of times on offense. Shoulders, who totaled 70 yards on 12 offensive touches, fell on teammate Jay Alexander’s fumble in the end zone before notching a 3-yard touchdown run.

QB Orrin Delk, Columbia

The Lions came up just short at Shelbyville on Friday, suffering a 49-48 overtime setback to the district-leading Golden Eagles. Delk was spectacular in the narrow defeat, though, completing 20 of 29 pass attempts for 305 yards with touchdown passes of 26, 19, 62 and 35 yards.

RB Dylan Todd, Westmoreland

Todd was the workhorse in Westmoreland’s 14-7 victory over District 9-AA foe White House – the Eagles’ first over the Blue Devils since 1991. He carried 28 times for 199 yards, and the junior fullback also accounted for both of his team’s touchdowns, scoring on runs of 2 and 39 yards.
