H.S. FOOTBALL: Milan shuts out Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON – This year’s edition of the Huntingdon-Milan rivalry game was quite one-sided as the Milan Bulldogs blanked the Huntingdon Mustangs to come away with a 27-0 victory.

The Bulldogs were dominant in all three phases of the game as they racked up 317 yards of total offense, held the Mustangs scoreless defensively, and even scored on special teams as a result of a blocked punt.

After the game, Bulldog coach Jeff Morris seemed pleased with his team’s execution.

“The offense played big plays all night,” Morris said. “Defensively, when you shut out a team like that, that’s a big deal. It’s always nice to come out of here with a win.”

Milan senior running back Isaiah Ross got things going offensively for Milan when he busted through the left side of the line and sprinted to the end zone for a 77-yard touchdown run to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead.

“The line got blocks for me, and I just kept going down the field,” Ross said.

Milan got another big play on offense in the second quarter when quarterback Landon Walker found receiver Hayden Bolton on a slant pass that went for a 49-yard touchdown to increase the score to 13-0 Bulldogs.

The big plays weren’t over for Milan in the first half as Milan blocked a Huntingdon punt attempt off a low snap, and Jake Ramaker picked up the loose ball and ran 10 yards to the end zone to give the Bulldogs a 20-0 halftime lead.

The last score of the night came on a 26-yard Ross run in the third quarter to give the Bulldogs a 27-0 lead.

Ross finished the night with 148 of Milan’s 212 yards on the ground.

The Bulldogs (6-3) will close the regular season next week at Obion County, and the Mustangs (5-4) will host the Dresden Lions.
