Centennial's Deon Sanders commits to Furman

Centennial senior Deon Sanders has committed to play football at Furman University, announcing his decision via Twitter on Sunday morning.

“Taking my talents to Greenville, South Carolina to play at Furman University. 1 Team 1 Family 1 Furman,” Sanders tweeted.

Sanders, who has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each of the past two seasons for the Cougars, is a two-star prospect according to 247Sports. The All-District 11-AAA selection also had Division I offers from Austin Peay and New Mexico State.

The 6-1, 210-pound back rushed for 1,325 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2014, helping lead Centennial to a 10-3 record and a Class 6A quarterfinal appearance.

He ran for 104 yards in the Toyota East vs. West All-Star Classic in December.

Sanders, who tallied 1,502 yards and 16 scores as a junior in 2013, is the second Midstate prospect to commit to Furman’s 2015 recruiting class. He joins Brentwood Academy defensive back Aaquil Annoor, who pledged with the Paladins in October.
