Roundup: Riverdale baseball sweeps Siegel

Dylan King and Jonah Hartline each hit home runs and Riverdale completed a three-game sweep of Siegel on Thursday with a 9-2 win at Jones Field.

King, a Belmont signee, went 2 for 3 with four RBI. The home run was his second of the season. Hartline's homer was his first of the year.

Haddon Adams went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI for the Warriors (14-5, 9-0 in 7-AAA).

MTSU signee Drew Huff (2-1) picked up the win in relief of Canaan Owens, who pitched into the third inning. Jacob Key got the loss.

Ryker Kristinus was 2 for 3 for the Stars (11-7, 7-5) with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Tyler Kirkland had a pair of singles.

Jackson Christian 6, Central Magnet 5: Jackson Christian scored three runs in the seventh, tying it with a home run and winning it with a walk-off hit to beat the Tigers (12-4). Wes Duffield led Central offensively, going 3 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Central Magnet 8, Scott's Hill 0: Jordan Jackson and Duffield each had two hits for the Tigers (13-4). Duffield also had a solo home run.

Chris Johnson (3-1) collected the win with a complete-game shutout while striking out eight.

Jackson Christian 14, MTCS 6: Brayden Melton and Griffin Harper each went 3 for 4 and had a RBI. Melton scored two runs. Harper hit a double for the Cougars (4-5).

Peyton Buckner was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Perry Patton was 2 for 3 with a RBI. And Taylor Garner was 1 for 3 with two RBI.

Zach Stephenson (0-1) took the loss, giving up four earned runs in four innings. He struck out three, walked three and gave up two hits.

BOYS SOCCER

Smyrna 7, DeKalb 1: Walter Lopez scored three goals and Juan Cernas added two to lead the Bulldogs. Moo Kwaw and Alexis Martinez also scored.

Juan Cernas had two assists. Chris Conrado and Martinez also dished out assists.

John Trent had two saves for Smyrna. Felipe Flores also had a save.

La Vergne 7 Spring Hill 0: Ivan Ontiveros and Austin Garcia scored two goals each for the Wolverines.

David Rodriguez, Kevin Cardona and Oscar Zamora each had goals.

La Vergne returns to action at noon Saturday at Mt. Juliet.
