MURFREESBORO – Blackman's girls basketball team wrapped up its best two-year run in school history last month with a second gold ball in as many years.

Today, three of the members off that team have been named to The Daily News Journal's All-Area Girls Basketball Team.

Connecticut commitment Crystal Dangerfield — the Tennessee Gatorade player of the year and Miss Basketball winner — headlines the team. The Lady Blaze point guard averaged 15.5 points and an area-best 5.6 assists this season for the Lady Blaze.

Teammates Meme Jackson and Alex Johnson join Dangerfield on the team. Jackson, a Tennessee signee, averaged 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds this season. Johnson, a MTSU signee and Miss Basketball finalist, averaged 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Also on the first team are Riverdale sophomore point guard Anastasia Hayes and Oakland junior center Shelby Gibson join the Lady Blaze trio on the first team.

Gibson, an Ole Miss commitment, averaged 14.8 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Lady Patriots this past season. She was dominant in the paint on offense and rebounding. Gibson helped lead Oakland to the Class AAA state runner-up.

Hayes averaged a District 7-AAA best 18.9 points with 3.6 assists this past season in helping lead the Lady Warriors to a second-place finish in 7-AAA for the regular season.
