Michael Dodgen named girls coach of year

WOODBURY – Cannon County was forced to overcome the loss of 49.8 points a game this past season due to graduation, including Class AA Miss Basketball Abbey Sissom.

However, the Lionettes overcame it as well as a slow start to the season to return to the TSSAA Girls Basketball Class AA State Championships.

For his team's accomplishments, coach Michael Dodgen has been named The DNJ's 2015 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.

Cannon County (25-10) placed fifth in District 8-AA in the regular season. But the Lionettes reached the District 8-AA championship game and won the Region 4-AA championship game. Dodgen also won his 300th game during the season.
