Two of the three schools in Cheatham County are looking for new football coaches after recent resignations.

Sycamore head football coach Tyler Williams stepped down last Wednesday after four years with the War Eagles.

Williams led Sycamore to a 17-25 record in his four years as coach, but finished with back-to-back 2-8 seasons the last two years.

Two days later, recent Cheatham County Central High School hire Chris Bain resigned his position as football coach after accepting the job in February.

The county’s school district said in a statement, “School administration was notified of this decision after spring break. To ensure a smooth transition, school officials said Bain will continue teaching class and working with the football team through the end of the 2014-2015 school year.”

Bain was Cheatham County’s answer to replace Brian Mintz after Mintz spent the previous two years as head coach.

Cheatham County is eager to fill the coaching void left by the recent resignations.

“We want don’t want any position to be left vacant for a long period of time,” Cheatham County School District director of communications and grants Jeff Bennett said.

Both positions could be filled soon as Cheatham County has already begun its search for a pair of new head football coaches.

“Basically once a coach submits his resignation the district will begin a search for a replacement and that’s typically standard protocol for any position in the district,” Bennett said.
