GALLATIN — It was a one-sided game on Friday night between Hendersonville and Station Camp, with the Commandos cruising to a 31-0 road win.

Hendersonville coach Bruce Hatfield was pleased with the showing of his team on the night.

“We are proud of our guys for coming in here and beating a good Station Camp football team,” Hatfield said. “We made some mistakes early, but for the most part, we played really hard tonight.”

Hendersonville (6-1, 3-1 6-5A) jumped out to a commanding 17-0 lead at the half, and used a smothering effort from its defense to set the tone all evening. Hendersonville held Station Camp  (2-5, 2-2) to just four first downs, while using an efficient rushing attack to salt away the victory.

On the flip side, Station Camp coach Shaun Hollinsworth was not content with the performance of the Bison.

“We didn’t play good in any phase of the game tonight,” Hollinsworth said. “We were flat early and just didn’t come out and execute very well.”

Hendersonville struck early with a big play on its first possession when quarterback Brett Coker found Mike Harris for a 45-yard touchdown. A 33-yard field goal from Jacob Harris gave Hendersonville a 10-0 lead after the first quarter.

The Commando defense set up the offense with good field position on the next drive, and Terrell Carter scored on a 1-yard touchdown run, making the score 17-0 at the break.

The  Bison, playing without injured starting quarterback Tyler Thompson and fullback/linebacker Chris Dunavin, came out in the second half with their best drive of the night, going 41 yards in 12 plays, including a 26-yard completion from Cole Spears to Dontay Garrett.

However, a 36-yard field goal from Ayden Curd was blocked by the Commandos. Hendersonville didn’t allow another first down for the rest of the game.

Coker ran in a 1-yard touchdown run, giving the Commandos a 24-0 lead.

After a 43-yard punt return from Carter, Hendersonville set up shop from the Bison 25. Frankie Small ran in a 21-yard touchdown two plays later, capping the scoring on the night.

Hendersonville returns to action next week with another rivalry game, this time against Gallatin.
