GREENBRIER — The White House Heritage haven’t had a home game yet this season, but the Patriots made themselves right at home at Greenbrier on Friday night and handed the Bobcats a 44-7 loss on homecoming.

“Heritage is a very good team and they showed that tonight,” Greenbrier coach Kirk Williams said. “They beat us in every aspect of the game and we just didn’t have an answer for them.”

Thadd Baker led the way for Heritage, rushing for 75 yards on 13 carries and three touchdowns.

Kyle Fuhrer added 65 yards on 12 carries and caught a pass for 16 yards and a touchdown in the win.

“We were in a hurry to get back on the field after having a week off,” Baker said. “Our coaches told us we could only control things that were in our control, and the weather was something we couldn’t control tonight.

“We did a good job hanging on to the ball and our (offensive) line did a great job opening up some huge holes. They did the work, I was just there to run it in, so this was a good win for us.”

Tennessee high school football scores Week 7

Heritage (3-3, 2-1 5-3A) scored first when Baker took it in from two yards out to make it 6-0.

Greenbrier (3-4, 1-2) fumbled the ensuing kickoff and four plays later Baker took it in from 20 yards out to go up 14-0 after the two point run by Baker.

The Bobcats answered with an eight-minute drive capped by Jacob Waffird’s 5-yard run into the end zone to cut the lead to 14-7.

Trent Burian added a 30-yard field goal just before halftime to give Heritage a 17-7 advantage.

Greenbrier committed three second-half turnovers, and Heritage put the game away early in the fourth quarter, going up 44-7 to bring out the mercy rule.

“I’m proud of our kids and the way they responded after our week off,” Heritage coach Pat Brown said. “They got a little tired of running the same thing for two weeks, but that preparation really paid off tonight.

“Defensively, Coach Scott Ballard did a great job getting our guys ready because any time you can hold a team like Greenbrier to just seven points and get (five) turnovers, you’ve done a great job.”
