HENDERSONVILLE — On a night where rain fell throughout most of the game, Beech poured on plenty of points against visiting Station Camp.

The Buccaneer defense and special teams factored in early and the offense took care of the rest in a 41-14 victory.

Beech (6-2, 4-1 6-5A) maintained a first-place tie with the victory, aided by a fumble recovery on the second play of the game and a blocked punt later in the opening quarter that led to the first 14 points.

“We’ve been working hard every day in practice,” Beech junior offensive lineman/linebacker Brad Montgomery said. “Everybody’s been doing their job.”

Senior Rodrick Napper scored two plays after the fumble recovery on a 44-yard touchdown run, and he finished with 176 yards and two scores on 18 carries.

Junior Michael Iacob’s blocked punt bounced into his older brother’s hands, and senior Alex Iacob raced 25 yards for a 14-0 Buccaneer lead with 4:56 left in the first quarter.

“A fumble on the second play from scrimmage and then turn around and have a punt blocked, that was a quick 14 (points) right there,” Station Camp coach Shaun Hollinsworth said. “It was a rough start that’s tough to overcome against a good team like that.”

Station Camp sophomore Sirtavious Perry led the Bison (3-5, 2-3) with 105 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

Both teams have an open date next week.
