Blue Devils rout Cheatham County

WHITE HOUSE The White House High boys soccer squad scored all of its goals over the final 30 minutes of the first half in Wednesday evening’s 6-0 victory over visiting Cheatham County.

“We were fluid,” Blue Devil head coach Mark Lamberth said. “We were precise. We were mechanical and unselfish. I was very impressed with our young guys being able to dissect another team.”

White House freshman Matt Hooper played a through-ball to Lees for the first goal, and freshman Jacob Harper scored an unassisted goal five minutes later.

Blue Devil goalkeeper Logan Trimmer punted a ball past midfield that led to Lees’ one-on-one opportunity and second goal at the 27:00 mark.

White House (9-2-3 overall, 4-0 in the District 9 A-AA North Division) moved its defenders to the midfield and forward areas and shifted its forwards and midfielders to defense at that point, and sophomore Corey Curtis slid a pass over to senior Owen Clark for a goal at the 33:00 mark.

Two minutes later, Clark gained possession of a short clear by the Cubs and fired a low shot from 25 yards away past goalkeeper Jesse Gentry, who made 14 saves.

The final goal came when Curtis played a ball across the box to sophomore Brady Briley at the 36:00 mark, and Briley converted.

The Blue Devils produced 11 of their 20 shots on goal in the first half.

Trimmer made one save in the first half, and White House junior goalkeeper Jeremy Potts made three saves in the second half.
