Gallatin baseball squad extends its winning streak to five games
WHITE HOUSE A seven-run third inning propelled the Gallatin High baseball team to a 13-2, six-inning victory at White House on Thursday evening.
The Green Wave (15-9) had five extra-base hits but also took advantage of six base on balls and six errors.
Gallatin junior Jordan Mason doubled in two runs in the third and scored on classmate Andy Denning’s second triple. Denning tripled in junior Matthew Jackson in the second inning, and he finished with three hits and drove in three runs.
Blue Devil senior Cody Gentile produced a first-inning sacrifice fly, and junior Jacob Abbott followed with a run-scoring single to give the host squad a 2-0 lead.
However, White House (13-9) was limited to three hits by Wave freshman starting pitcher Brady Harris, who struck out four hitters and walked two over five innings.
Gallatin senior Carlos Hernandez struck out the side in the sixth.
Blue Devil senior Luke Hopkins had two hits and scored a run.
Senior Billy Campbell and junior Austin McWhirter had two hits each, with Campbell driving in two runs and McWhirter scoring twice. Mason scored two runs and drove in three runs.
The Green Wave won their fifth consecutive game and scored double-figure runs for the fourth time over that span.
The Blue Devils had their four-game winning streak snapped.
