HENDERSONVILLE Jimmy Neal had to get a bit creative in order to get all 10 seniors of the Beech High baseball team in the starting lineup on senior night.

It ended up working out for the best as the Buccaneers rallied to edge visiting White House, 4-3, on Monday evening at Buccaneer Field.

One of those seniors – Kody Timmons – pitched a scoreless seventh inning to collect the save. Timmons also started at third base after taking some repetitions at shortstop in practice.

White House High senior Landon Sewell receives a pickoff throw as Beech senior Jesse McCoy dives back to first base during fourth-inning action.

“Being in the outfield all of last year and this year, it felt good to be on the dirt actually,” Timmons said.

Jacob Jenkins was the winning pitcher, tossing two scoreless innings of relief in the fifth and sixth frames before giving way to Timmons.

Beech (19-12) scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Beech High senior centerfielder Isaac Robertson catches a fly ball during first-inning action.

Senior Tyler Maskill scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning on a throwing error at third base. He also doubled, stole two bases, drove in two runs and scored another run in the fifth inning on senior Jesse McCoy’s sacrifice fly.

“They kind of scrapped and fought back in there,” White House head coach Seth Long said. “We made a couple of mistakes that opened the door for them. They made us pay for it.”

Beech scored once in the first inning, but White House (13-10) took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second on a fielder’s choice by senior Brian Mullins and a two-out, two-run single from senior Jake Jarvis.

White House High junior Hunter Neumair delivers a first-inning pitch during Monday evening’s contest at Beech.
