Dickson County volleyball coach Sara Davis may be the new face around the school, but that doesn’t mean she’s the new face around town.

New Dickson County volleyball coach, Sara Davis, takes advantage of a time out during the Lady Cougars scrimmage with McEwen.

Davis is originally from up the road in Waverly. She’s been playing since she was little and organized team volleyball since she was seven. After spending two years at Trevecca Nazarene University playing volleyball and two years as the team manager, she knew she wanted to instill her knowledge of the game onto the next generation after graduating.

So when she heard there was an opening at Dickson County, she knew it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up.

It didn’t hurt that Davis also spent some time at Dickson County as a student teacher as well.

“I grew up in Waverly, so I’m familiar with the area and have always loved it here. I love the small town atmosphere,” said Davis.

“I’ve coached for the Dickson Dynamite club. I really just love working with the girls and teaching them the sport I love.”

After being hired druing the summer, Davis and her Lady Cougars are gearing up for the coming season as they look to improve on last year’s mark.

“I’m very excited for the season,” said Davis.

“We’ve got a talented group of girls. They’re all fun to work with. We’ve been working on some new plays that we’re going to try out this year. I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes. I’ve heard the competition can be pretty tough, but I’m feeling optimistic.”
