REAGAN - Scotts Hill behind another big night from running back Kobe Rogers and a strong performance by the Lion defense defeated Jackson Christian 42-13.

The Lion’s Rogers rushed for 194 yards and four rushing touchdowns to lead Scotts Hill to its fifth win of the season. Rogers scored on runs of five, nine, 20 and five yards.

Rogers also caught seven passes for 67 yards giving him over 261 yards of total offense on the night.

“The running game has been carrying our offense for the past two weeks,” said Scotts Hill coach Michael Stroup. “Rogers does a good job of finding the running lanes.

“We have to eliminate the turnovers though if we want to continue winning.”

The Lions lost two fumbles to the Eagles defense and the second one was picked up by Jackson Christian’s Hayden Love, who ran it back 40 yards for a touchdown.

The Eagles’ first score came on their first offensive play as quarterback Will Buehler kept the ball on the read option and raced 46 yards to give Jackson Christian an early 7-0 lead.

Scotts Hill’s defense rose to the occasion after that play and limited the Eagles to 67 more yards of total offense in the first half.

“Our defense is really starting to play well, and they are getting better each week,” said Stroup.

One player contributing to the improving defense is linebacker Cody Holmes, who had an interception and was in on tackles all over the field.

“I was just reading the quarterback and attacking when he kept the ball, and keying on their receivers when he dropped back to pass,” said Holmes.

Friday night final scores

Scotts Hill (5-1, 2-0) travels to region rival Riverside next Friday night.

“Practice this week will be a little more intense as we prepare for our rival Riverside,” Holmes said. “We will practice to get ready.”

Jackson Christian plays host to Adamsville next Friday night.
