Kreager: Brentwood Academy play No. 1 on SportsCenter

Brentwood Academy lost the rematch, but the Eagles made ESPN's top plays Friday night when quarterback Jeremiah Oatsvall completed a 57-yard touchdown pass to Lawrence Segree to end the first half at Montgomery Bell Academy.

Oatsvall, an Austin Peay commitment, had his pass tipped by teammate Cam Johnson near the MBA 7-yard line. Johnson then popped the ball over a scrum of players into Segree's hands in the end zone.

The play was the top play in Friday night's SportsCenter.

Oatsvall finished the game 20 of 32 passing for 231 yards.

The play tied the game at 17. However, MBA went on to win 31-24 in a rematch of last year's Division II-AA state championship game.

Brentwood Academy won last year's title 56-55 in two overtimes.

Rice airs it out

Wayne County quarterback Preston Rice aired it out in the Wildcats' 55-7 rout of Houston County. 

The 2015 Class 1A Mr. Football finalist completed 7 of 11 passes for 258 yards with three touchdowns to help Wayne County (8-0) remain unbeaten.

Desmarais plays big role

White House Heritage's Nick Desmarais played a large role in the Patriots' 34-13 non-region win over Westmoreland. 

Desmarais reeled in touchdown passes of 30, 80 and 58 from quarterback Austin Gunter. He also recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown.

Desmarais finished the night with six catches for 231 yards.

Northeast stays grounded

Clarksville Northeast stuck to the ground in Friday night's 41-3 win over rival Clarksville High.

Northeast racked up 507 yards rushing in the rout, led by Gus Antoine's 10 carries for 197 yards and four TDs.

Antoine has 704 yards rushing for the season with 10 TDs. He surpassed 1,400 all-purpose yards for the year.

Nashville Christian to Division II

Nashville Christian is the latest Middle Tennessee private school to announce it plans to participate in Division II next school year.

Football coach and athletic director Jeff Brothers sent The Tennessean a text message Friday announcing the school's decision. All schools have until Oct. 14 to tell the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association which division it will play in.

Nashville Christian won the 2015 Class 1A state football championship. It's enrollment of 213 places the school in DII-A for all sports with multiple classes. There is only one DII class for bowling and wrestling.

Grace Christian (Franklin) and Middle Tennessee Christian are the lone Middle Tennessee private schools to not yet decide which division they will participate in starting next season.

Nashville Christian (5-2) was idle this week.
