XC: South Gibson sweeps Region 7 A-AA

For the first time in program history, South Gibson’s cross country teams swept the Region 7 A-AA meet at Obion County on Tuesday.

The top three teams from the meet advance to the Class A-AA state meet in Nashville on Nov. 5.

The Lady Hornets had a team score of 67 to beat out second-place Lexington and third-place Dresden.

Leah Spahr was the top runner for the South Gibson girls with a time of 22:33 to finish 11th.

The Hornets had a team score of 32 to beat second-place Dresden and third-place Dyersburg.

Medals are handed out to the top 15 runners, and South Gibson’s seven runners all placed in the top 15, and four of them finished in the top 10.

Isaac Wehner was the top runner for South Gibson as he finished second with a time of 17:28. Wehner was beaten out by Dresden senior Chase Carden for first place.

Dresden swept the individual awards as Anna Johnson finished first in the girls’ race.
