MARTIN - One of the biggest rivalries in West Tennessee girls basketball is between Gibson County and Westview with many of those games being decided by one big play in a late game situation.

The one big play occurred again on Tuesday night.

The clock showed a little more than three minutes left in the game with Westview leading 39-35 over the visiting Lady Pioneers.

Westview ran through its offense with the intent of running some time off the clock. The Lady Chargers did exactly that, and capped the possession off with a big 3-pointer from the corner by Kinlee Moore to put Westview up 42-35.

The Lady Chargers went onto win the game 44-35.

"Kinlee did a great job of being ready for that shot," Westview coach Brian Haskins said. "That was a huge shot for us at the time, and was probably the reason we went on to win that game."

The 3-pointer by Moore was one of four that the Lady Chargers hit on the night as they struggled from 3.

"We did not shoot the ball really well tonight," Haskins said. "I think we were something like 4-for-20 from 3. If we are going to be as good as we want to be, we are going to have to do a better job of shooting the ball. That starts with being ready to shoot it and being consistent."

Despite the cold shooting night, the Westview defense played well, holding Gibson County to a season low of 35 points.

The Lady Pioneers were led in scoring by Justyce White with 13 points.

"This is a big rivalry game," Haskins said. "These two programs go way back with some great games. You can throw the records out when it comes to this game. Every time we play them it goes down to the wire."

Westview was led in scoring by Lydia Pritchett with 14 points.

"We have the capability of scoring at any of the five spots on the floor at any time," Haskins said. "We just have to continue growing and gaining experience with our young kids.

"I am proud of the toughness they showed tonight in a big game."
