Two of District 7-AAA's top players and the District 8 A-AA MVP top the list for the Daily News Journal's All-Area Girls Soccer Team.

The list is headlined by the three finalists for Player of the Year - Siegel senior Ashley Lawson, Oakland senior Shelby Parker and Central Magnet junior Madison Shea.

The Player of the Year will be announced in a special section and reception near the conclusion of the school year.

Lawson was playing in her first year of high school soccer after spending two years in travel ball and missing her junior season with an injury. The Clemson commitment scored 31 goals to lead Siegel to a District 7-AAA Tournament championship and berth in the Class AAA Sectional. She was named the district's Offensive MVP while also garnering Tennessee Sports Writer All-State status.

Parker was a key cog in Oakland's backfield, leading the Lady Patriots to a second consecutive 7-AAA regular-season title. Oakland went unbeaten in league play (6-0) and had nine shutouts in 14 games. Parker keyed a defensive unit that allowed just 13 goals all season as she was named to the coaches all-state team.

Shea helped Central Magnet to a 13-7 record and District 8 A-AA Tournament championship, scoring 25 goals with nine assists. The Lady Tigers fell to Notre Dame 2-1 in the Region 4 A-AA tourney. The forward led Central Magnet in scoring in being named the league's MVP.

Other notable first-team All-Area members include Oakland sophomore Faith Adams, who was named 7-AAA Midfield MVP, Blackman junior midfielder Kenzi Vetter, Oakland senior midfielder Ajah Liggin and Central Magnet senior goalkeeper Abbey Coleman, who was named 8 A-AA Goalkeeper of the Year.

The list is rounded out by Siegel's Bella Roberts and Alexis Louk, Stewarts Creek's Kaitlyn Watson, Smyrna's Ashley Barrientos and Blackman's Carly Bowen.
