Prep Roundup: White House boys win first region bowling title

White House High’s boys bowling team won its first-ever region tournament championship on Thursday afternoon, defeating Lebanon 21-6 for the Region 6 title at Cookeville’s Bowling World.

Senior John Wright bowled the Blue Devils’ top individual game (257) and finished with a three-game series total of 659. Classmate Jonah Anderson had a three-game total of 644 (206-216-222), and sophomore Michael Frensley had the team’s top series total of 663 (239-227-197).

White House held a pinfall advantage of 223 pins on the way to the victory, which allows the Blue Devils to host a sectional match against Lipscomb Academy on Monday at 9 a.m. at Strike and Spare Family Fun Center in Hendersonville.

The Blue Devils improved to 19-3 with two victories on Thursday, defeating Station Camp 19-8 in a semifinal match earlier on Thursday.

Frensley rolled a high game of 233 and senior Johnny Baggett added a 232 for White House, while Logan Beard led Station Camp (16-5) with a high game of 247. Noah Caudle rolled a three-game series total of 575 (200-186-189) for the Bison, who ended their season with the loss.

The Bison advanced to Thursday’s semifinals with a 17-10 victory over Upperman in Wednesday’s quarterfinal round.

Alex Craddock rolled a team-best game of 256, while Harrison Preston rolled a three-game series total of 629 (214-198-217).

Ice Commandos double up Wallace School of MBA

The Hendersonville-Beech hockey team defeated Wallace School of MBA 4-2 on Wednesday evening at Centennial Sportsplex.

Four different Commandos scored – Adam Neiderauer, William Longe, Jaxon Rathert and Harvey Rench IV.

Longe added an assist, as did four others – Nick Kieser, Cross Carruth, Logan Haynie and Joey Glenn.

Austin Robinson made eight saves on 10 shots against to earn the goaltending victory.

The Commandos improved to 9-1-1 in Greater Nashville Area Scholastic Hockey League play, leading the Blue Division by four points over the Tennessee Outlaws. Hendersonville-Beech has outscored opponents 63-12 so far this season.

Hawks fall at Friendship Christian

The Merrol Hyde Magnet boys basketball team suffered an 80-33 loss at Friendship Christian on Thursday evening.

The Hawks trailed 25-14 after one quarter, 52-18 at halftime and 71-31 entering the final quarter.

Connor Dunn led the Hawks (3-8) with 13 points, while Jacob Richardson added nine points and Connor McCutcheon finished with seven.
