Hardin girls bowl way to state tournament again

Hardin County’s Summer Napper helped lead the the Lady Tigers to a third straight state championship.

There was little question on Saturday about whether the Hardin County girls would advance to the state bowling tournament.

The Lady Tigers didn't drop a single point in beating Whitehaven 27-0 in a sectional match at the Savannah Bowling Center.

This is the 16th consecutive season that the Hardin County girls have reached the state tournament. The Lady Tigers are looking for their fourth straight state championship, and they have won seven state titles since 2007.

The Lady Tigers won total pinfall 3137-2087.

Hardin County senior Ashley Channell bowled scores of 212 and 234 in her two games to lead the Lady Tigers.

Abigail Smith bowled a 210 in Game 1, while Faith Welch bowled a 218 in Game 2. Taylor Stricklin missed 200 score by one pin in Game 2, as she bowled a 199.

Hardin County coach Jennifer Channell allowed some of her younger girls bowl in Game 3, and they kept the momentum going by taking all eight points.

Lacy Tims led the Lady Tigers in Game 3 with a 177, while Kenzie Gean bowled a 176.

The team state tournament begins on Friday with baker matches to determine seeding at 11 a.m., and the quarterfinals will be played at 4:30 p.m.

The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Saturday.

The individual state tournament begins on Thursday with six Hardin County female bowlers participating. Quarterfinals start at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
