Hardin County boys will bowl at state

For a fourth straight year, the Hardin County boys bowling team has advanced to the state bowling tournament later this week.

The Tigers beat Collierville 17-10 in a sectional match on Monday for the right to bowl at state.

Hardin County won in total pinfall 3620-3412.

Savyon Pipes and Calin Meeks won all three of their games to lead the Tigers to the victory. Pipes bowled a 728 series, while Meeks bowled a 617 series.

Hardin County jumped out to a 6-2 lead after Game 1. Pipes had the highest score with a 258, while Matt Napper bowled a 223 and Ben Harmon a 215.

Pipes, Napper, Meeks and JT Dado picked up win in the game.

Game 2 was a little closer, but the Tigers did extend its lead to 11-5.

Meeks had the highest score with a 235, while Pipes (225), Harmon (213) and Quinton Durbin (203) also posted scores over 200.

In Game 3, Pipes led the way with a 245, while Dado added a 215.

Collierville won Game 3 5-3.

Hardin County boys are seeking their first-ever team state championship. The Tigers did finish runner-up in 2007.

The team state tournament begins on Friday with baker matches to determine seeding at 11 a.m., and the quarterfinals will be played at 2 p.m.

The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Saturday.

The individual state tournament begins on Thursday with three Hardin County male bowlers participating. Quarterfinals start at 8:30 a.m.

Pipes finished fourth in last year's individual state tournament. The last time Hardin County brought home an individual state title is 2010.
