Terry Arrington became the second Clarksville football coach to resign in the past six days when he submitted his letter of resignation to Northeast principal Tavis Massey on Tuesday.

Arrington resigned as football coach after three seasons at the school.

"We appreciate his willingness to serve as coach for the past three years," said Massey in a press release. "We thank him for his time and commitment to the football program.

"The Northeast administration accepts and respects his decision to explore other options."

Arrington, who is also a high school basketball referee, did not return a message on his phone.

Northeast joins Rossview as Clarksville schools in search of a football coach. Ron Lambert resigned at Rossview last week.

Arrington finished with a 13-19 record at Northeast, including 5-5 this past season, just missing the Class 5A playoffs after a Week 11 loss to Rossview.

Arrington’s best season came in 2015 when the Eagles finished 6-6, falling to Henry County in the second round of the 5A playoffs.

Arrington also has had head coaching stops at Kenwood (1997-2003), Cheatham County (1994-1996) and Friendship Christian (1989-91).
