Brentwood players Andrea Acevedo (6), Logan Eggleston (33) and Celia Lamb (11) celebrate their win over Hardin Valley at MTSU's Murphy Center during the TSSAA volleyball state tournament on Oct. 20, 2016. Thursday Oct. 20, 2016, in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Brentwood sophomore Logan Eggleston became the seventh Nashville area volleyball player over the past 10 years to be named the Gatorade Tennessee Volleyball Player of the Year.

Eggleston, a 6-foot-2 outside hitter, recorded 406 kills with 184 digs and 52 blocks. She was the MVP of the TSSAA Class AAA state championship match as well as a member of the U.S. Girls Youth National team.

"Logan Eggleston is just an amazing player," Ravenwood coach Wendy Munzel said in a statement announcing the award. "She brings so much heat to the ball, and she plays all six rotations.

"She's explosive, and she's pretty much unstoppable."

In the past 16 years, Eggleston, who recently committed to Texas, is the fifth athlete from Brentwood to win the award, joining Hunter Thompson (2013-14), Katherine Hall (2006-07), Lauren Greenwood (2002-03) and Lauren Brewster (2000-01 and 2001-02).

Father Ryan graduate Lauren Dorrell was named the Gatorade Player of the Year last season.

Eggleston is now a candidate for the Gatorade National Player of the Year, which will be announced later this month.
