Boys basketball roundup: Oakland pulls away from Siegel

Oakland's boys basketball team had quite a second half Tuesday night against visiting rival Siegel.

The Patriots outscored the Stars 47-19 in the final two frames to pull away to an 82-50 win.

Oakland (5-0 7-AAA, 13-3 overall) led just 35-31 at intermission but outscored the Stars (2-4, 7-10) 17-6 in the third and then put up 30 points in the fourth.

Eleven players scored for Oakland, including a game-high 22 from Keishawn Davidson, 13 from Tre Jones and nine each from Ray Tyler and Jaden Jamison.

James Franklin scored 19 for Siegel while Corvelle Ellis, Quinton Byrd and Joseph Howard tallied eight apiece.

Blackman 51, La Vergne 31: Third-ranked Blackman allowed just 21 points through the first three quarters in Tuesday's win over La Vergne.

The Blaze improved to 5-0 in league play, 15-2 overall. Blackman led 25-15 at halftime.

Brandon Thomas had 20 points and four rebounds for Blackman while Trent Gibson added 10 points, four assists and five rebounds.

Vincent Helms led La Vergne (2-4, 4-14) with nine points.

Central Magnet 48, Smith Co. 42: The Tigers improved to 4-3 in 8-AA play and 10-9 overall with the win.

Free throw shooting was key for Central Magnet, as the team hit 18-of-20. Patrick Blair was 14-of-14 from the stripe and finished with a game-high 23 points. Wes Duffield added 11 points and Will Carver eight in the win.

MTCS 81, Moore County 59: The 10th-ranked Cougars built a 42-24 halftime lead and never looked back in the big 9-A win.

The victory improves MTCS to 8-0 in league play and 14-3 overall.

Barr Ellenburg scored 19 points, Nate Howell with 15 and Kavan Hill with 14. Ben Phillips tossed in 11 points while Steven Turnham added nine.

Huntland 64, Eagleville 55: A slow second quarter doomed the Eagles in the 9-A setback.

Eagleville (4-3, 9-10) led 18-13 after one period but was outscored 16-7 in the second period.

Eric Hawks scored 18 to lead the Eagles while Ethan Cobb added 13 and Austin Strickland 11.

Omar Lyons (23) scored 12 points as Siegel upended Riverdale Tuesday.
