Station Camp’s Chase Freeman was named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's All-State Basketball Team.

Station Camp’s teams each collected District 9-AAA victories on the road Tuesday, sweeping a doubleheader against Gallatin.

Three things from Tuesday’s games:

Freeman and Zazzaro drive Bison again

Chase Freeman and Thomas Zazzaro combined for 45 points, with Freeman’s 27 serving as the game-high output in the Bison’s 64-62 victory.

“I think we got dominated for about two-and-a-half quarters,” Gallatin head coach Bobby Luna said. “(Chase) Freeman played 1-on-5, he was the best player on the floor. We didn’t have any answers defensively.”

Freeman made all 11 of his free throws, and Station Camp (16-3 overall, 5-1 in District 9-AAA) hit 14 of 16 from the foul line as a team.

“They show you the difference in making layups and free throws,” Luna said. “We didn’t convert anything in the paint in the first half. We didn’t shoot the ball very well from the free-throw line in the trips that we got there. With a quarter-and-a-half to go, we just started rolling the dice and creating some things to get back in the game.”

Green Wave rally behind Mitchell

Gallatin (16-4, 5-1) trailed 38-23 with 5:30 left in the third quarter, but the Green Wave nearly came all the way back to tie it in the final minute.

“We didn’t take care of the ball as well,” Station Camp head coach Seth Massey said. “At times, I thought we made some poor decisions. We turned the ball over 19 times, 14 in the second half.”

Marlon Mitchell was a driving force behind the rally with 11 of his 20 points coming in the fourth quarter.

“It ended up closer than we would have liked it, but (Gallatin) made shots, too,” Massey said. “It ended up being a great game.”

Station Camp’s Olivia Delk shoots a 3-pointer over Gallatin’s Veronica Varoz (12) during second-quarter action.

Lady Bison find their range

Station Camp’s girls hit nine 3-pointers, five of those from Jane Deason, who finished with 26 points in the Lady Bison’s 71-35 victory.

Emiline Payne and Peyton Strickland added 13 and 11 points, respectively, for Station Camp (13-5, 4-2 9-AAA).

LaMonica Mintlow led Gallatin (7-12, 0-6) with 12 points.

The Lady Wave led for a while in the first quarter, but Station Camp outscored Gallatin 19-10 in the second quarter to take a 17-point lead to halftime.

“I felt like we got into the flow of our press a little bit more (in the second quarter),” said Lady Bison assistant coach Natalie Nolan, who was acting as head coach while Kendra Jackson was unable to coach due to illness. “We started knocking down some shots and got a little bit more comfortable with (Gallatin’s) 1-2-2 zone.”
