Boys basketball roundup: Robinson's 3-pointer at buzzer lifts La Vergne past Stewarts Creek

Derrion Robinson nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift La Vergne's boys to a 39-36 win over rival Stewarts Creek Friday night.

The game was close throughout as the Red Hawks (2-5, 9-12) led 16-14 after a low-scoring first half and La Vergne entered the fourth with a 26-25 advantage.

Montez Gray scored 12 for the Wolverines (3-4, 5-14) while Robjhay Bush added nine and Keianthony Connor eight.

Desmond Sales led Stewarts Creek with 10 while Tyler Conley scored nine.

Eagleville 75, Moore Co. 59: Eagleville outscored Moore County 46-22 in the second half to come from behind and roll to the 9-A win.

The Eagles improved to 5-3 in league play and 10-11 overall.

Eagleville trailed 37-29 at halftime before outscoring Moore County 21-9 in the third period.

Austin Strickland scored 25 points for the Eagles while Eric Hawks added 22 in the win.

Cascade 55, MTCS 47: The 10th-ranked Cougars (14-4) were outscored 15-3 in the second quarter and never recovered against Cascade (16-3).

Barr Ellenburg scored 16 for MTCS while Nate Howell added 14 and Kavan Hill 13 in the setback.
