Beech's George Roberson goes up hard to the hoop against Station Camp in Hendersonville, TN on Fri. Jan. 2017.

HENDERSONVILLE- The Beech boys basketball team looked to be on the verge of getting run out of its own gym Friday night against District 9-AAA rival Station Camp.

Station Camp dominated the third quarter with senior guard Chase Freeman propelling his team to a nine-point lead early in the fourth quarter.

However, Beech dominated the final six minutes of the basketball game using a 15-0 run as the Buccaneers pulled out a 54-52 that seemed unlikely just a few minutes earlier.

“Chase (Freeman) was hitting everything, but our bench players came in and started the rally when the starters weren’t getting it done,” Beech junior Jayson Brown said.

“We (the starters) just came back in and continued it and hit some clutch buckets at the end.”

Freeman scored his 24th point on a rebound and put back with 6:15 left that gave Station Camp (17-4, 6-2 9-AAA) a 44-35 lead, but the Buccaneers (12-10, 4-4) held Station Camp scoreless over the next 5:35 and used a 15-0 run to overtake the Bison.

Brown scored six of his team-high 16 points during the final run, and his bucket with 2:57 left gave Beech its first lead of the second half at 46-44.

“It looked like a mirror image of the last time we played them with Station Camp leading by four at halftime and tonight it was tied and it had all the makings for them running out on us again,” Beech coach Kip Brown said.

“We made just enough plays to keep it to within striking distance, and our second team cut in the lead and gave our starters a good chance.

Station Camp claimed a 62-51 home victory over Beech on Dec. 2.

Station Camp senior Thomas Zazzaro knocked down a three-pointer with eight seconds left to cut the lead to 52-50, but a pair of free throws from Robertson sealed the win.
