HENDERSONVILLE Station Camp and Beech’s girls could not get away from each other on the scoreboard for 30 minutes on Friday in their District 9-AAA matchup.

The final two minutes were a run away for the Lady Bison.

Station Camp sophomore forward Olivia Delk scored her only two baskets of the game during a 10-0 run during the final two minutes that gave the Lady Bison a 51-44 victory.

“Well, I mean Coach (Kendra) Jackson motivates us all the time, and she’s in our ear and pushing us to that next level that we didn’t think we’d have,” said Payne, who led all scorers with 25 points. “When shots aren’t falling, it’s discouraging; especially us since most games we live and die by the three. Coach Jackson just gets us down deep in our hearts where we continue to fight on.”

Station Camp (15-5, 5-2 9-AAA) won the first matchup between the two teams 50-35 at Station Camp on Dec. 2.

Beech's Decker McCall drives against Station Camp in Hendersonville, TN on Fri. Jan. 20, 2017.

Senior McCall Decker knocked down a free throw with 5:22 remaining to give Beech (10-9, 5-3) a 40-39 lead, but it would not last for long as the Lady Bison quickly responded.

Station Camp junior Jane Deason scored on back-to-back baskets to start the run as Beech missed seven shots and turned the ball over four times during the final 4:21.

Most of this was without freshman point guard Mia Dean, who fouled out in the fourth quarter.

“Losing her really hurt when we needed the ball handling and forced us into a bad situation,” Beech coach Kristi Utley said. “We had to get a stop and pick up our defensive intensity and when you do that, you are going to get a steal or foul them or get an easy one and at that point you have to take chances.”
