Prep Roundup: Hendersonville girls halt Wilson Central’s district win streak

Hendersonville’s girls held Wilson Central to 13 percent from the field, ending the Lady Wildcats’ 21-game regular-season district winning streak with a 39-25 victory on Friday.

Basketball

Brooke Long led the Lady Commandos (9-8, 5-3) with 14 points, while Addison Byrd led Wilson Central (20-2, 7-1) with 10 points.

Wilson Central did not reach double figures in any quarter.

>> The Commandos held Wilson Central to 18 points through three quarters in a 32-29 victory.

Jordan Amis scored nine points to lead Hendersonville (7-11, 2-6).

Gallatin girls 47, Portland 46: Gallatin (7-13, 1-7 9-AAA) outscored Portland 16-10 in the fourth quarter to claim its first district victory since Jan. 23, 2015, a span of 26 games. Grace Pincock led the Lady Wave with 16 points, while Mackenzie Trouten paced Portland (7-13, 1-7) with 13 points.

>> Gallatin’s boys improved to 18-4 overall and 7-1 in District 9-AAA play with a 66-32 victory at Portland (3-15, 0-8).

Hendersonville Christian boys 47, Providence Christian 43: Peyton Shoulders scored 16 points to lead the Crusaders (5-8) past Providence Christian. HCA was outscored 19-6 in the fourth quarter, but managed to hold on for the victory.

Red Boiling Springs boys 73, Merrol Hyde 47: Red Boiling Springs outscored Merrol Hyde 42-23 in the second half in defeating the Hawks. Jacob Richardson led Merrol Hyde (4-11, 1-4 8-A) with 14 points.
