Tennessean Midstate basketball Top 10: Girls

A look at the top girls high school basketball teams in Middle Tennessee, as ranked by the USA Today Network of Tennessee.

1. Riverdale (17-0) – Ranked second in latest USA TODAY Super 25 national poll, the Lady Warriors can take a big step in securing top seed in District 7-AAA with win Tuesday over visiting Stewarts Creek. Last week: No. 1.

2. Brentwood Academy (15-3) – Big tests coming for the Lady Eagles with three of their next four opponents ranked in the Associated Press’ Division II statewide poll. Last week: No. 2.

3. Stewarts Creek (17-3) – The Lady Red Hawks can avenge one of their losses when they play at Riverdale on Tuesday. Last week: No. 3.

4. Upperman (20-3) – The Lady Bees saw their seven-game win streak come to an end Saturday when McMinn Central forced a regular-season split with a 77-67 win. Last week: No. 5.

5. Oakland (16-3) – Belmont signee Maddie Cook scored a game-high 24 points in a 58-43 win over Smyrna on Friday night. Last week: No. 8.

6. Father Ryan (17-0) – The Lady Irish held Chattanooga Baylor to just six second-half points in their 36-29 win Friday night. Last week: No. 9.

7. Wilson Central (20-2) – The Lady Wildcats’ 39-25 loss to Hendersonville was their first in District 9-AAA in the past two years. Last week: No. 4.

8. Ensworth (14-3) – Jordyn Cambridge and Akiya Harris scored 12 points apiece in a 40-28 non-district win over CPA. Last week: No. 10.

9. Westmoreland (17-2) – Kaitlyn Norman’s 20 points helped the Lady Eagles beat Cheatham County 58-53 to avenge one of two losses. Last week: Not ranked.

10. Cheatham Co. (19-2) – The Lady Cubs defeated their remaining five District 9-AA opponents by an average of 33.6 points in their first meeting. Last week: No. 6.
