South Side's Cheyenne Cunningham (23) works against Haywood's Takiyah Benton (3) at South Side High School in Jackson, Tenn., on Dec. 16, 2016.

There is one team that remains undefeated in West Tennessee in girls basketball, and this week that team moved up to the No. 1 spot in the Class AA poll released by the Tennessee Associated Press.

South Side (15-0) jumped three spots this week to join Humboldt boys (20-1) as the two teams representing West Tennessee in the No. 1 position.

The Lady Hawks received nine of the 15 first place votes. The three teams ranked about them last week — Upperman (20-3), Cheatham County (19-2) and East Nashville (16-4) — took losses this past week to fall in the polls.

South Side finished one vote ahead of Upperman in the poll.

Westview (19-2) moved up one spot to No. 4 in this week's poll, and the Lady Chargers did receive one first-place vote.

Another Jackson team moved up in the polls this week as the University School of Jackson (18-2) moved up one spot and into a tie with Northpoint Christian in the Division II poll. The Lady Bruins and Lady Trojans are the top-ranked teams in the poll from Division II-A.

USJ received two of the 14 first-place votes in the poll.

One thing that this past week did show in girls basketball is that there is no Class A team in Weakley County better than any other.

Greenfield (19-2) moved up three spots in No. 2 after beating No. 4 Dresden.

Dresden (16-4) held on to the No. 4 spot in the poll after beating Gleason and falling to Greenfield.

Gleason (19-4) dropped three spots to No. 6 after losing to Dresden. The Lady Bulldogs have two wins over Greenfield on the season.

On the boys' side, Humboldt held on to the No. 1 ranking in Class A for the third straight week. The Vikings received 14 of the 15 first place votes with Mitchell receiving the other.

Despite a loss to Riverside, Middleton (13-4) stayed at No. 9 in the Class A poll.

Haywood (15-5) stayed at No. 5 in the Class AA boys poll this week after wins over Millington and Covington.

Dyersburg (18-1) moved up one spot to No. 3, jumping Fulton by five votes. The Trojans received one first-place vote.

The No. 1 teams in each division are Riverdale (AAA girls), South Side (AA girls), South Greene (A girls), Father Ryan (Division II girls), Memphis East (AAA boys), Knoxville Catholic (AA boys), Humboldt (A boys) and Brentwood Academy (Division II boys).
