All-American punter Joe Doyle waiting to sign
Farragut High School punter Joe Doyle is keeping his options open after National Signing Day.
The Under Armour All-American hopes to make a college decision by the end of the month after not signing on Wednesday.
"I'm hoping to make a decision by the end of the month," Doyle said in a Twitter direct message. "I'm waiting to see if any scholarships are open for a punter in my class."
Doyle was the top uncommitted punting/kicking prospect in the country entering Wednesday, according to ESPN. He averaged 41.1 yards on 40 punts as a senior, playing a role in Farragut's run to its first Class 5A state championship.
Doyle's Power-5 offers are mostly for preferred walk-on spots.
"I'm talking to South Carolina, Memphis, and Arkansas about PWO spots," Doyle said. "All of those schools want me to compete with other guys on the roster for starting spot and scholarship. (Chattanooga) wants me to go there too, they are scholarship."
