Arlington wins third straight regional wrestling title

Arlington had six wrestlers win region titles on its way to winning the Region 8-AAA Individual Wrestling tournament Saturday at Arlington High School. The Tigers scored 205.5 points, while Bartlett (156) and Houston (152) took second and third. It was the third consecutive region title for the Tigers.

Saturday, Arlington added the region individual title to their region duals title they won last month.

The top four finishers in each of the 14 weight classes advanced to the TSSAA state tournament that begins Thursday at the Williamson County Expo Center in Franklin.

Michael Cannon (113-pound weight class), Luke Kerns (126), Harrison Phillips (138), Aaron Moore (182), Alan Roaten (220) and Johnthan Metcalf (285) won titles for the Tigers.

Three Bartlett wrestlers also won region titles.

Gabe O'Callaghan (106), Dalton Cockman (145) and Dawson Johnson (195) won their divisions to help the Panthers take second.

Houston had two region champs with Cade Young winning the 152 title and Luke Fleming taking the 170 weight class.

Other region winners were: Justin Kimble, Collierville (120), Jordan Taylor, Cordova (132) and Ndayambaje John, Kingsbury (160).
