The breakdown: Oakland boys blow out Columbia to advance in Region 4-AAA

Oakland had two close games against Columbia during the regular season, defeating the Lions 48-45 and 64-54.

Their third and most important matchup of the season was completely different.

The Patriots never trailed as they defeated the Lions 70-41 in the Region 4-AAA quarterfinals to advance to Tuesday's semifinals

Oakland will battle Stewarts Creek at 7:30 Tuesday at Siegel.

Here is a breakdown of the game:

Oakland boys 70, Columbia Central 41

Records: Oakland 22-6, Columbia Central 13-16

The skinny: Oakland was focused from the start. The Patriots ran their offense to near perfection in the first half, outscoring Columbia 36-19, connecting on 15-of-25 from the field, and only committing one turnover, two for the game. Defensively the Patriots forced Columbia into seven turnovers in the first half.

Turning point: Oakland scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed. The Patriots also went on runs of 12-4 in the second quarter and 19-6 in the third quarter.

Leading scorers: Oakland: Keishawn Davidson 18. Columbia: Cameron Harvey 8.
