ROUNDUP: Middleton boys only 15-A team to advance

There will only be one District 15-A team in the Region 8-A semifinals, and that team will be Middleton.

The Tigers knocked off Memphis Academy of Health Sciences 81-69 at Middleton on Saturday in the Region 8-A quarterfinals.

Riverside, Jackson Christian and TCA all lost.

Middleton will play MASE in the region semifinals on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Jackson Christian.

Middleton jumped out to a 17-8 lead after one quarter, and after two losing quarters, the Tigers scored 32 in the final quarter to secure the win.

Montrez Jones scored 26 points to lead Middleton, while John Gray added 25 and Ty Parks had 16.

City University 71, Riverside 58: Behind 11 3-pointers, City University went on the road and beat Riverside.

City University jumped out to a 43-32 lead at halftime as the Panthers struggled to take care of the ball.

Cannon Duke led Riverside with 19 points, while Daryl McElrath added 15.

MASE 55, Jackson Christian 52: The Eagles upset trip to Memphis came up a little bit short as MASE held on for the three-point win.

Mitchell 64, TCA 41: The three-time defending state champions were too much for Trinity Christian Academy.

Mitchell took a 33-11 lead at halftime en route to the win.

Mitchell will play City University at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Jackson Christian in the region semifinals.

Region 8-AA

Haywoood 75, Raleigh-Egypt 46: The Tomcats won each of the four quarters to be the lone District 15-AA team to advance to the region semifinals.

Haywood jumped out to a 23-14 lead after one quarter and held Raleigh-Egypt to five points in the second quarter.

Tristan Jarrett led the Tomcats with 29 points, while Shurayveon Hines added 19 points, including five 3-pointers. Demarius Boyd finished with 15.

Haywood will play Douglass on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the region semifinals at Liberty. Douglass held on to beat Ripley 77-73.

Sheffield 96, North Side 73: The Indians fell behind early and couldn't rally to pull the upset in Memphis.

Sheffield led 33-13 after the first quarter.

The Knights were led by Kavion Hancock with 39 points, while Tim Williams added 20.

Sheffield will play Craigmont at Liberty on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the region semifinals.

North Side was led by Josh Cole with 24 points. Mychael Robinson added 20, while Alantae Peterson finished with 19 points.

Region 7-AA

Fayette-Ware 75, Westview 68: The Chargers kept the game close through three quarters, but Fayette-Ware used a better second half to win at home.

After a tie game at halftime, the Wildcats outscored Westview by seven in the second half.

D.J. Jackson led Fayette-Ware with 24 points, while Quatarius York added 14.

Dyersburg 72, Lexington 70 (OT): The Tigers came close to pulling the upset on the road, but a Kevin Spencer basket at the buzzer gave Dyersburg the win.

Lexington led through most of the early stages, but the Trojans fought back in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Dyersburg will play Fayette-Ware on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the region semifinals.

Region 6-AA

Camden 77, Cascade 53: The Lions are into the region semifinals after beating Cascade at home.

Camden jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter and extended it to 36-20 at halftime.

Cody Brown hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter to help the Lions take a 57-34 lead into the final eight minutes.

Camden will play Giles County at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Creek Wood in the region semifinals.

Region 7-AAA

Bolton 72, Hardin County 61: The Tigers' season came to an end on a trip to Memphis.

Hardin County cut Bolton's lead to four with 1:50 to play (63-59), but the Tigers couldn't pull the upset.
