Chris Cascio, who spent the last four seasons as Northpoint's defensive coordinator, is the team's new football coach.

Northpoint is keeping its football head coaching job in the family.

In a statement, Cascio said his goal was "to make sure every player associated with our team will know and understand their worth to me, the coaches, the teammates and themselves."

Northpoint finished 4-6 and missed out on the playoffs in 2016 but made the postseason in both of the two previous years. In 2015, the Trojans had their best season in school history, winning their first 13 before losing to St. George's in the Division 2-A state championship game.

Before coming to Northpoint, the 44-year-old Cascio coached at DeSoto Central, Olive Branch, St. Benedict, Pine Bluff (Ark.), St. Joseph and Little Rock Catholic.
