Boys Soccer Super Seniors
Lane Allen (South Gibson, M/F) – Allen was more of a distributor last year as he finished the season with three goals and seven assists. But with his experience offensively, the Hornets are going to look for him to create even more offensive opportunities with 49 of last year’s 58 goals gone.
Nick Bezold (Madison, Midfielder) – Bezold is an expert at playing on the wings and getting the ball up and down the field. He knows when to get back and help defensively and when to push forward to help in the attack. He has signed to play college soccer at Freed-Hardeman.
Sidney Bryant (Sacred Heart, Forward) – Bryant has been one of the top goal scorers in West Tennessee over the past two seasons. He was the 2015 All-West Tennessee Offensive Player of the Year, and he followed that up with 20 goals and seven assists last year in leading the Knights to sub-state.
Salvador Damazo (North Side, Forward) – Damazo has held down a starting role for the Indians since his freshman season. He can create scoring opportunities even when there doesn’t seem to be one. Consistent scoring from Damazo could help get North Side back to state this season.
Marshall Davis (Jackson Christian, Defender) – Davis was named the 2016 All-West Tennessee Defender of the Year is helping lead the Eagles to the Class A-AA state tournament. That is the goal again this year as he and goalkeeper Trace Haggard make the top defensive combo in West Tennessee.
Bryce Ellis (Lexington, F/M) – With the loss of leading scorer Jace Vestal, Ellis will need to increase the number of chances he creates in the attacking third. He won’t be called upon to score all of the goals, but he will need to get the ball to his teammates in scoring positions.
Jacob Greene (Trenton Peabody, Midfield) – Greene brings a height advantage that few in West Tennessee have. His 6-foot-3 frame makes his a target on set pieces for headers. His role on the team will increase this year with five of the 11 starters gone from last season.
Lane Henry (Chester County, Defender) – Henry was a member of the All-West Tennessee First Team last year after leading the Eagles defensively to four shutouts. He is back for his senior year to again anchor a backline and limit the shots on goal by the opposing team.
Caleb Johnson (Chester County, Forward) – Johnson finished his junior season with 16 goals and six assists. With six starters gone from last season, the Eagles will look to Johnson to be a go-to offensive player and create scoring opportunities in clutch situations.
Keyon Kazempour (USJ, Midfielder) – With a young Bruin team this year, Kazempour’s experience on the field will bring a calming effect with his leadership. Kazempour isn’t always going to be in the middle of all of the scoring, but he is a quality player with the ball at his feet.
Garrett Winget (Lexington, Midfielder) – Winget is a work horse on the field of the Tigers. He is not going to usually be at the top of the scoring sheet, but he plays a vital role in setting up those goals from a behind-the-scenes role in the midfield.
