High school roundup: Blackman baseball takes two of three from Siegel

Blackman and Siegel swept a baseball doubleheader Wednesday, enabling the Blaze to take two of three in the District 7-AAA series.

The Stars (6-3 7-AAA) captured the win in the first game, 4-1.

MTSU commitment Zac Pearson had a big game for Siegel, earning the win on the mound and getting it done at the plate.

Pearson tossed a complete-game three-hitter on the mound, allowing just three hits and no earned runs, walking three and striking out four.

Blackman's D.J. Wright took over in the second game, hurling a complete-game four-hitter, allowing two runs and striking out four in earning a 3-2 victory.

Siegel's Seth Petry was solid in relief for the Stars, hurling six innings and allowing no runs.

Blackman scored all three runs in the first inning. Pearson drove home both runs for Siegel while Michael Dimartino and Tristyn Lozano both drove home runs for Blackman (4-2 7-AAA).

MTCS 7, Fayetteville 2: The Cougars continued their unbeaten season with a convincing 9-A victory Wednesday.

Zach Stephens (3-0) earned the win, tossing six innings of five-hit ball, allowing two runs (no earned), three walks and striking out seven. He helped his own cause with two hits.

The Cougars improved to 4-0 in league play and 7-0 overall.

Grant Pickard was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI for MTCS while Ben Durham was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Josh Letzler added two RBIs for the Cougars.
