Rosters announced for hoops all-star game at Gleason

Gleason's Kelsey Borneman will play for the West team in the Northwest Tennessee Class A All-Star Game on Apr. 8.

For the first time, there will be a Northwest Tennessee Class A All-Star Game held at Gleason.

The rosters for the game were also recently released.

The East team on the girls’ side will be coached by Greenfield’s Willie Trevathan, and the team consists of Shominique Pearson (Bruceton), Jordyn Greene (Gleason), Darby Reed (Gleason), Kendall Wiley (Greenfield), Grace Angleos (Huntingdon), Jesica Keith (Huntingdon), Anna Comer (McKenzie), Emma Glisson (South Fulton) and Tykesha Vaughn (Union City).

The West team on the girls’ side will be coached by Trenton Peabody’s Michael Hart, and the team consists of Haley Cooper (Bradford), Myriel Price (Bradford), Kelsey Borneman (Gleason), Lillian Nichols (Gleason), Allayshia Carter (Humboldt), Chesslyn Owens (Humboldt), Carissa Britt (McKenzie), Maya Anderson (Peabody) and Alivia Bishop (Union City).

The games will be played on Apr. 8 with the girls game at 6 p.m. and the boys game at 7:30 p.m.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. with tickets costing $8.

The East team on the boys’ side will be coached by Huntingdon’s Jonathan Kee, and the team consists of Marquez Pirtle (Bradford), Josh London (Gibson County), Devonte Bennett (Humboldt), Izaya Brown (Humboldt), Carlton Childs (Humboldt), Jarred Walker (Humboldt), Keeton Bailey (Huntingdon), Davion Phillips (Huntingdon), Richard Boyd (Lake County), Preston Henderson (McKenzie), Dajour Edmonson (McKenzie), Gevin Courtney (South Fulton) and Jack Johnson (West Carroll).

The West team on the boys’ side will be coached by Humboldt’s Ron Abernathy, and the team consists of Parker Berlekamp (Bradford), Kobe Eddings (Bradford), Keilan Rooks (Dresden), Hunter Walker (Dresden), Mac Hicks (Gibson County), Tyner Hughes (Gibson County), Jamarius Mayberry (Gibson County), Lucio Solano (Gleason), Keaton Cook (Greenfield), Kortland Martin (Humboldt), Mason Wells (South Fulton), Quentrail Polk (Union City) and Chase Nash (West Carroll).

Basketball Camp: The girls basketball coaches at South Side – Brent McNeal and Adrian Comer – will be holding the Another Level Back to the Basics Basketball Camp 2017 presented by Best of the Best Basketball.

Special guests at the camp will be South Side grad Ke’Shunan James (Murray State), North Side grad Jada Perkins (Union) and South Side grad Kiya Sain (Montevallo).

The camp is for rising third through eighth grade girls. It will be held the North Parkway Middle School gymnasium on May 30-June 2 from 9 a.m. until noon.

The cost is $40 per child with registration happening May 19 from noon to 2 p.m. and May 20 from 10 a.m. until noon.

L.H. Ladd Memorial Tournament: Even though rain last Saturday canceled the tournament in Union City, a few West Tennessee teams performed well in pool play.

Huntingdon went 3-0 to win Pool D with wins over Adamsville, Union City and Meadville (Pa.).

Adamsville finished second in that pool with a 2-1 record with wins over Union City and Meadville (Pa.).

Obion County won Pool C with wins over TCA, Halls and Unity (Ill.), while TCA went 2-1 with wins over Halls and Unity (Ill.).

Milan finished in a three-way tie for second in Pool B with a 1-2 record. The win was over For Smith Northside (Ark.).
