Tennessee well-represented in nation's Top247 for 2019

Thirteen high school football players, including nine from the Nashville area and three from Memphis, were among 247Sports’ inaugural Top 247 rankings for the class of 2019.

Sheffield (170), Pearl-Cohn’s Jayden Harrison (202), Memphis Central’s Trevis Hopper (214), Lausanne’s Eric Gray (230) and Notre Dame’s Cameron Wynn were each included on the list.

Here’s a closer look at each of the nine Nashville-area athletes:

  • Joseph Anderson , Siegel (6-4, 253, DE): Four-star prospect has offers from 15 Division I schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Tennessee.
  • Kendrell Scurry , Independence (6-3, 185, WR): Four-star Tennessee commitment hauled in 58 receptions for 977 yards and 16 TDs a season ago.
  • Jackson Lampley, MBA (6-4, 280, OT): Four-star prospect helped pave the way up front for the school’s all-time leading rusher, Ty Chandler.
  • Ani Izuchukwu , Davidson Acad. (6-4, 230, DE): Four-star Nigeria native missed part of last season with a shoulder injury.
  • Trey Knox, Blackman (6-4, 190, WR): Four-star prospect hauled in 54 receptions for 669 yards and 10 touchdowns a season ago.
  • Lance Wilhoite, FRA (6-3, 169, WR): Four-star prospect has offers from 11 Division I programs, including LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
  • Wesley Walker, Ensworth (6-1, 185, CB): Four-star prospect posted 25 tackles, nine pass deflections and an interception last season.
  • T.J. Sheffield, Independence (5-10, 157, WR): Four-star Tennessee commitment tallied 1,430 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns a season ago.
  • Jayden Harrison , Pearl-Cohn (5-10, 187, ATH): Four-star prospect hauled in 32 receptions for 463 yards and six touchdowns last season.
