Ryder Green, who is currently committed to play baseball at Vanderbilt, has transferred from Hardin Valley Academy to Knoxville Christian.

Green’s transfer comes shortly after Hardin Valley baseball coach Joe Michalski and assistant coach Zach Luther returned to their coaching positions following an investigation by the Tennessee Department of Children Services after the two were accused of intentionally and repeatedly hitting players with pitches during a practice. The claims that led to the investigation proved to be unsubstantiated.

Green’s mother, Sheri Super, was vocally against Michalski at the time of the investigation, telling school principals and interim Superintendent Buzz Thomas in a letter that Michalski has “used intimidation” including “bullying, pejorative name-calling, public humiliation and now physical abuse while coaching the baseball team.”

“At the end of the day, these are children aged 14-18 who are being exposed to emotional and physical abuse and something finally needs to be done,” Super added in the letter.

Michalski and Super did not respond to inquiries about the transfer.

Green, who chose Vanderbilt after decommitting from Kentucky after his sophomore year, homered for the Knights on Friday in a 15-12 win at Seymour.
