BASEBALL

Weston Bizzle, CBHS: In a recent interview after striking out 17 batters in a game twice, Bizzle told The Commercial Appeal that he'd be glad to fan more than that if it helped his team win. True to his word he went out and did it, striking out a remarkable 20 (in seven innings) as the Brothers defeated Bartlett, 2-1, in the USA Classic last week.

TRACK AND FIELD

Harding 800-meter relay team: The Lions team of Austin Jackson, Nick Martin, Charles Nichols and Calvin Austin III won the title at Saturday's Battle of the Border meet at Whitehaven. Their time of 1:27.16 broke the school record set last season and helped Harding finish second in the team competition. It's also the fastest 800-relay time in the state this year and puts them in the top-25 nationally.

LACROSSE

Isadora Springer, Collierville: A freshman who also plays soccer and basketball, Springer had a big week as the Dragons defeated Arlington (18-2) and Bartlett (12-3), scoring six goals and assisting on five others.
