Sacred Heart’s Tims leads top performers

Even though rain canceled games throughout the week, there were still some standout performances on fields across West Tennessee.

Here are the top 10 that were submitted to us:

1. Hunter Tims (Sacred Heart baseball) – Tims went 10-for-13 at the plate in four games on the week for a .769 batting average to go along with 12 RBI and two stolen bases. He also picked up a win on the mound with seven strikeouts in five innings pitched.

2. Hannah Sampson (Camden softball) – Sampson went 2-1 on the week with 18.1 innings pitched. She allowed no earned runs on nine hits, while striking out 11.

3. Katie Turner (McNairy Central softball) – Turner went 4-1 on the week with 55 strikeouts. She pitched a perfect game and a no-hitter in a doubleheader against Fayette-Ware.

4. Will Pucek (USJ soccer) – In three matches against Division II-A opposition, Pucek had eight goals and one assist as the Bruins beat St. George’s 3-2, Harding Academy 5-0 and Tipton-Rosemark 6-0.

5. Jake Gilley (Liberty baseball) – Gilley went 8-for-8 with three RBI as the Crusaders swept the District 15-AA series against Millington with 4-0 and 3-1 wins.

6. Malik Pogue (Westview baseball) – Pogue picked up a win on the mound against District 13-AA opposition in Dyersburg. Pogue went the full seven innings, allowing one earned run on five hits, while striking out five and walking two.

7. Jacob Greene (Trenton Peabody soccer) – Greene had five goals and three assists as the Golden Tide picked up three wins this week over Haywood (3-2), Milan (3-0) and Gibson County (4-1).

8. Parker Finton (Jackson Christian soccer) – Finton scored five goals as the Eagles picked up wins over Scotts Hill and Riverside this week.

9. Kayla Beaver (South Side softball) – Beaver picked up two District 14-AA wins in the circle over Lexington and Chester County. In the two games, she gave up a combined two runs on 10 hits.

10. Casey Coleson (McNairy Central baseball) – In a doubleheader against Fayette-Ware, Coleson went 4-for-4 with four RBI as the Bobcats picked up two wins.
