What to watch this week in Rutherford County area high school sports
The Rutherford County Track and Field Championships highlights the week ahead in area high school sports.
The event will take place at Blackman High School from Monday through Wednesday, beginning at 4 p.m. each day.
The pole vault event will take place on Monday. Girls running events and boys field events will take place Tuesday. Boys running events and girls field events will take place Wednesday. Thursday has been held as a rainout date.
Ten teams will be involved, including Oakland, Blackman, Riverdale, Siegel, Smyrna, La Vergne, Stewarts Creek, Eagleville, Central Magnet and Middle Tennessee Christian School.
The District 7-AAA baseball race will be decided as first-place Blackman (13-2) needs just one win in its three-game series against Riverdale to lock up first place. Stewarts Creek (14-4) is hoping for a Warrior sweep. The league winner gets an automatic bid into the region tournament.
The 7-AAA softball race will also have some huge games, including Oakland at Siegel and Riverdale at Stewarts Creek on Tuesday.
The 7-AAA soccer race will have a heavy slate of games this week, including Oakland at Stewarts Creek on Thursday.
