On Allie Henderson's birthday, the baseball and softball teams played District 14-AA contests in Jackson with the proceeds going to benefit the Allie Henderson Scholarship Fund.

The softball team played at Jackson State, while the baseball teams played at the Ballpark in Jackson.

Lexington softball won 3-0, while the baseball team won 9-6.

Here are five takeaways from the two games:

1. The towns of Lexington and Chester County know how to come together and support a cause bigger than themselves. The crowds were large at both locations.

Allie's father Todd Henderson was thankful for all of the support that was shown Tuesday night, and he is especially thankful to Michael Winders at Jackson State and Jason Compton with the Jackson Generals on being cooperative to make the event happen.

2. Brylie Brown was dominant in the circle for Lexington in helping the Lady Tigers get one step closer to claiming the No. 1 seed in the District 14-AA tournament. Brown pitched the two-hit shutout, while striking out three and walking none.

Lexington is on top of 14-AA at 6-1. The next three are: South Side (6-3), McNairy Central (5-3) and Chester County (3-2).

3. After a nine-inning game on Monday, the Lexington baseball team came out strong and took a 9-0 lead after five innings. Raleigh Odle pitched four-innings of no hit ball with nine strikeouts.

Odle also had three hits to lead the Lexington bats, but Darrius Bomer and Tucker White had two RBIs each.

4. Lexington had good approaches in the first two innings as the Lady Tigers scored three runs in the first two innings. Kaitlyn Kelley had an RBI single int he first inning, while Sam McDaniel followed with a two-RBI triple in the second inning.

But Lexington didn't have a single hit in the next four innings.

5. Chester County made a strong comeback in the final two innings. The Eagles were down 9-0 heading into the sixth inning, they scored four in the sixth inning and two in the seventh inning.

Trey Beecham hit an in-the-park home run in the sixth inning that scored two and cut the Lexington lead to 9-4.

Colby Farley did one even better in the seven inning as he hit a home run over the fence in left-center field.
