CAK's Rebecca Story runs fast 1,600 at KIL meet

Christian Academy of Knoxville junior Rebecca Story headlined the second day of the KIL track and field championships at Hardin Valley Academy on Wednesday, winning the girls 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 48.16 seconds. It was the third-fastest time for a high school runner this year.

The two-time Gatorade athlete of the year — one for track and field as a sophomore last year and the other for cross country this season — also added another individual win in the 800 in 2:14.34 and was the anchor leg in the Lady Warriors’ third-place finish in the 4x400 relay (4:13.35).

Offer for Jones: Oak Ridge senior guard Tajion Jones was offered a scholarship by Virginia Military Institute on Tuesday. His other Division I offers include Navy and Southeast Missouri State.

The Class AAA Mr. Basketball finalist averaged 18.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.1 steals and three assists per game to help the Wildcats reach the state semifinals.
