Atakelti Gebregzabher celebrates with his team after making his first of two goals for Station Camp on Tuesday night.

Fast has been a trademark of Station Camp soccer all season. Tuesday night was no different.

The Bison set a grueling pace to capture a dominating 7-0 win against Rossview in the Region 5-AAA final, a win that highlighted more than speed.

“We wanted to come out fast and play well. Just follow the game plan,” said Station Camp coach Tom Morand. “...We just needed to be composed around them. We’ve been wasting too many chances in games.”

Morand was very adamant with his team prior to the game to “get on them early and keep going.” This turned into a lot of early pressure before senior Chase Freeman sent in Station Camp’s first two goals with five minutes of each other.

Freeman’s shots set the pace and the team never looked back, notching an additional five goals for the 7-0 final, all while maintaining the same pressure defensively to limit Rossview’s chances.

“The plan is always to have a shutout. Coach is always talking about defense and communication,” Freeman said. “We did that really well tonight.”

Freeman was one of three Station Camp players to end the night with two goals. Both Atakelti Gebregzabher and Josh Street had two goals.
