Making a second straight Class A-AA state tournament seemed to be little trouble for the Jackson Christian boys soccer team.

The Eagles cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Golden Tide to earn a spot in the state tournament.

Peabody's Benjamin Allen (14) and Jackson Christian's Parker Finton (10) each attempt to gain possession of the ball during their Class A-AA sectional game, Saturday, May 20. Jackson Christian defeated Peabody, 3-0.

"As good as our boys team has been over the years, this is the first time that our team has been to state in back-to-back years," Jackson Christian coach Jeff Lean said. "For us to win comfortably and rest guys at the end was good for us."

Jackson Christian's Marshall Davis scored twice, and Parker Finton scored the other goal.

"I thought we were a little flat the first 30 minutes, and sometimes that happens after a big game like North Side," Lean said. "There is a reason that we sometimes take a week off after a big game because it is an emotional game. We got our footing, and we settled down."

Jackson Christian has sent six teams to the state tournament over the past four years between the girls and boys teams.
