TSCA announces all-state team, all-star roster

The Tennessee Softball Coaches Association released its postseason recognitions on Tuesday, and there were plenty of West Tennessee names on the lists.

The Miss Softball finalists from West Tennessee were announced, the all-state team and the all-star roster were all announced.

McNairy Central’s Katie Turner, Scotts Hill’s Caitlin Mitchell and Henry County’s Gracie Osborn were named as the West Tennessee Miss Softball winners.

All-state

The TSCA All-State teams were also announced with 18 players from West Tennessee and Memphis being honored.

University School of Jackson’s Kallie Pickens and Tipton-Rosemark’s Rachel Whitley were named to the Division II team.

There were five area players named to the Class A team. Huntingdon had two named to the list with Alli Jones and Cheyenne Childress.

Gibson County’s Macey Neal represented District 14-A, while Scotts Hill’s Melanie Alexander and Jackson Christian’s Sophie Dunavant represented District 15-A.

There were also five area players named to the Class AA team.

Lexington’s Kaitlyn Kelley and Chester County’s Baylee Smith represented District 14-AA, while the other three West Tennessee districts had one honoree each.

Camden’s Brittney Minor (11-AA), Dyersburg’s Taylor Hopper (13-AA) and Ripley’s Chesney Dearth (15-AA) were all named to the AA team.

All four teams in District 13-AAA had a player named to the Class AAA team with Hardin County’s Cailin Stricklin, Dyer County’s Shelby Autry, Munford’s Kelsey Frizzell and Brighton’s Ta’Mya Johnson to go along with Henry County’s Caroline Hudson.

All-star game

The annual TSCA All-Star Games will be held at Trevecca Nazarene on June 13.

The Middle team will play the East team at 1 p.m., followed by West vs. East at 3 p.m. and finishing with West vs. Middle at 5 p.m.

There will be a home run derby between the 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. games. Miss Softball, Hall of Fame and All-State players will be recognized between the 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. games.

Following the three games, the Tennessee All-Star team will be selected to face the Kentucky All-Stars on June 28th at Belmont.

Jackson Christian and Lexington lead the way with two players each named to the 15-player roster.

Kacie Lynch and Kayla Forsythe will represent Jackson Christian, while Samantha McDaniel and Meghan Maness will represent Lexington.

Other players on the team are: West Carroll’s Katelyn Cherry, Dyersburg’s Taylor Hopper, Huntingdon’s Cheyenne Childress, Trinity Christian Academy’s Morgan Fielding, Hardin County’s Cailin Stricklin, Millington’s Marquisha Sanders, Dyer County’s Shelby Autry, Ripley’s Kelsey Turnbow, Arlington’s Taylor Manley, Briarcrest’s Makenzie Bradford and Brighton’s Marisa Moss.
